The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have pressed up the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
