Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel presently benefit from a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been satisfying with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said "a number of small services in Cornwall presently earn money from utilized cooking oil".

He added: "In order to have the ability to get this type of market going it does need just a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
